THE NEW YEARS EVE BAND:
Jainardo Batista Sterling (Vocals) was born into a family of musicians and dancers in San Juan Puerto Rico. He is a lead singer in the NYC group, Funky Guajiro formerly Mo’ Guajiro and has been performing prolifically in NYC for 20 years.
Joshua Levine (Bass/Vocals) is a New York native and Oberlin Conservatory of Music graduate/merit scholar. He studied Latin American & Caribbean music with Roberto Fuentes of Venezuela and José Luis Martínez of Cuba. Levine is an integral part of the Latin and Jazz community in NYC, is the bandleader for Cuarteto Guataca and plays regularly with Grupo Irek and through the non-profits HAI (Healing Arts Initiative) and CIM (Concerts in Motion).
Jeryl (Piano) is a University of Oregon School of Music honors graduate with dual degrees in piano performance and chamber music theory. Jeryl is a former member Son Mayor of Los Angeles, a Head Teacher with the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, and teaches at Boys and Girls Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Additionally, Jeryl she composes for and performs with for Louie Bauzo, and several other groups in the city.
